A family workshop in Melbourne, since 2014.
Deliver-Eze was founded by Neil Silke, a former automotive design engineer who got tired of finding the same note stuck to his front door: "sorry we missed you."
One man, three parcel thefts, and a shed.
In 2013, Neil had three parcels stolen from his front porch in twelve months. Two were eBay sales he had to refund. The third was a birthday present for his daughter.
The solutions on the Australian market at the time were either too small (designed for letters, not online shopping) or built like a roadside skip — heavy gauge mild steel, painted, and rusted within a year.
So Neil did what automotive engineers do: he prototyped. The first Deliver-Eze was bent and welded on his garage floor over a long weekend. The patent for the one-way chute baffle was filed before the second unit was finished.
Ten years later, the workshop has moved out of the garage and into a small factory in Melbourne's south-east. The three models we sell today are evolutions of that first prototype — same chute, same 316 stainless, same insistence on doing things properly.
The post is the most boring part of a house. We figured it was worth making it the most reliable.
We don't import. We don't white-label. Every unit that goes out the door has been cut, folded, coated, and assembled by people we know.
Three things we won't compromise on.
Materials before margins.
316 stainless is more expensive than 304 or aluminium. We pay the difference so it lasts on a coastal site.
One product, made well.
We resist the urge to release variations. Three formats, one mechanism. We'd rather perfect than expand.
The phone gets answered.
It rings to the workshop. If we're on the brake press we'll call you back the same afternoon.
“I'm an engineer by training. I want a box that does one thing well, and lasts thirty years. If you also want one — we've got you.”
Ready when you are.
