Three ways to install.
Each model has a different way of going into a wall, fence, or driveway. Below is what each requires, what tools you'll need, and what we recommend you outsource.
Fence-mount
Bolts to any timber, metal, or Colorbond fence. A DIY job for anyone comfortable with a drill.
Brick-in
Built into brickwork or rendered pillars. Best done with a bricklayer during pillar construction.
Freestanding
Bolted to a poured concrete base. A landscaper or capable DIYer with a concrete saw.
Malvern · the fence-mount procedure.
Before you start
Tools you'll need: Cordless drill with metal bits (5mm and 10mm), spirit level, pencil, M8 socket wrench, silicone sealant, two adults (the box is 20kg).
Time: 45–60 minutes for an able DIYer.
Procedure
- Mark the four mounting holes on the fence using the supplied template. The bottom of the letterbox should sit at ~1.05m above ground level — comfortable for a postal worker without bending.
- Drill pilot holes through the fence material. Use a 5mm bit for timber, 5mm pilot then 10mm clearance for steel posts.
- Have a second person hold the box in position. Pass the M8 coach bolts through the box's rear flange and the fence.
- Add the backing plate on the rear side. Tighten the nuts onto the backing plate, not directly onto the fence — this distributes load and prevents the bolts pulling through over time.
- Run a thin bead of neutral-cure silicone around the top edge where the box meets the fence to prevent water tracking down behind it.
- Open and close the door a few times to confirm clearance. The lock should engage smoothly without forcing.
Brighton · brick-in
Brighton is best installed as part of a new pillar build. The bricklayer leaves a rectangular cavity 380mm wide × 470mm tall, and your box slides in flush from the front. The rear is sealed with brick or rendered cement.
For retrofits, you'll need to chase out an existing pillar — a job for a qualified bricklayer. The opening should be 380 × 470 × 480mm minimum.
The optional combination lock is fitted at our workshop, not on site. Specify at order.
Mosman · freestanding
Mosman requires a poured concrete base. We recommend:
- Pad size: 600 × 600 × 200mm minimum.
- Reinforced with F62 mesh.
- Four M12 chemical anchors set to the supplied template before the box is fitted.
- Allow 7 days cure before bolting the box down.
If you're handing this to a landscaper, send them the dimensioned drawing — we'll email it on request.
